All names and records are fictional. The video shows the platform using Northbridge Digital demonstration data. The static dashboard and examples below use a separate fictional organisation, Northstar Example Ltd. The expandable sections explain the workflow rather than reproducing every platform screen. This page saves no entries and does not provide access to customer workspaces.
Follow examples from Northstar Example Ltd’s information security management system. Each section shows how an activity connects to the records that support it.
1. Establish the organisation and plan implementation
Start with the organisation, not a blank policy.
Northstar Example Ltd defines what its management system covers, identifies interested parties and assigns responsibilities.
A small business providing customer support services.
The people, systems and processes used to deliver those services.
Customers, employees, suppliers and relevant authorities.
Implementation tracker: helps the team understand tasks and record progress.
Clause workspaces: hold the linked policies and evidence supporting the requirements.
Next: identify information security risks relevant to the defined scope.
2. Record a risk and assign an owner
Make the risk and responsibility visible.
The team records a risk, identifies its owner and plans treatment. It reviews the assessment when circumstances or controls change.
| Risk | Owner | Treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Unauthorised access to customer records | Alex Morgan · IT lead | Review permissions and strengthen authentication |
Next: identify appropriate controls, record the treatment decisions and retain evidence of implementation.
3. Connect a control to its policies and records
A5.9 — Inventory of information and other associated assets
A control workspace brings together implementation guidance and the relevant policies, evidence and working registers linked by the organisation.
Read the guidance to understand the purpose and practical considerations.
Record assets and maintain their ownership and relevant details.
Link the asset management policy and evidence of an inventory review.
The organisation determines applicability and records its implementation position in the Statement of Applicability.
Next: keep the asset entries accurate and review whether the supporting evidence remains suitable.
4. Review an asset register entry
See the key fields, then open the detail.
The register view highlights key information. Open the example entry below to see additional details.
| Asset description | Asset ID | Serial number | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Staff laptop | AST-001 | DEMO-001 | Alex Morgan |

5. Link and review policies and evidence
Keep the supporting material close to the requirement.
Northstar Example Ltd completes a business continuity exercise and links its test record to control A5.29.
Add the organisation’s exercise report to the evidence library.
Connect the relevant evidence to the control it supports.
Open the attached file and record whether it is suitable, with review notes.
Policies follow their own review and approval process. Organisations can tailor policy starting points or upload existing policies, then link relevant approved records.
Next: act on findings from the exercise and retain evidence of follow-up.
6. Review performance and follow through on improvements
Implementation is the beginning.
Use objectives, audits, management reviews and nonconformities to record decisions and follow through on improvements.
- Example objective
- Complete an access review for all business systems
- Owner
- Alex Morgan
- Example finding
- Two leaver accounts require removal
- Follow-up
- Assign corrective action and check effectiveness
Dashboards and reports help review recorded progress. They support the organisation’s judgement and do not replace an assessment of conformity or an independent certification audit.
